Historian Clarence Goodman will present the turbulent times of the civil rights movement and Dr. King's message during the times he visited Chicago.

From Montgomery to Memphis and to the Mountaintop, Dr. Martin Luther King’s brief but profound life covered millions of miles and countless cities. Hear Dr. King's message on the civil rights movement in Chicago. Clarence Goodman will discuss the rise of race issues and how Dr. King took on Mayor Richard J. Daley to push for better living conditions.


This event will be held online using Zoom. To participate, all you need is a device (desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone) with a camera, microphone and an internet connection. Or, if you don't have a device, you can call into the event with your phone.

The Library at 28W751 Stafford Place is located in the heart of Warrenville’s civic center near the intersection of Batavia and Butterfield Roads. Additional parking and a second entrance are available off of Manning Avenue. In addition to a collection of more than 100,000 books, movies, magazines, audiobooks and CDs, members and guests have access to many amenities: study and meeting rooms, quiet room with fireplace, casual seating areas, discovery room for children, teen lounge, hot/cold beverage vending café, free wifi and computers.
