At the Library

youth discovery room

Discovery Room

This feature is currently unavailable. Our Discovery Room is a place for families to encounter the magic of imagination! Designed for children birth through age five, our youngest library visitors can learn while exploring with trains on a train table, a Lego station, a magnetic track set with wooden balls, a light table with Magna-Tiles and so much more. These discoverables frequently rotate to provide a new adventure on every trip to the Library.

The Discovery Room also hosts our extensive board book collection and beautiful murals depicting the natural surroundings of Warrenville.

Computers

There are six computers in the Youth Services Department for use by children under age 18 and their accompanying adults.

To use a computer, you can log on with a WPLD card or a guest pass. If you don’t have a WPLD card, present your photo ID at our Member Services Desk to receive a guest pass. If you have a card from another Illinois public library, register it at the Member Services Desk.

A User Agreement must be signed for children ages 17 and under.

Meet Miss Julie

Julie

Hello! My name is Julie and I am a Youth Services Librarian.

While I await my letter from Hogwarts, the looking glass to Wonderland and my closet to Narnia, I help children and families nurture their love of reading and learning.

I love reading, playing with my two dogs and watching sports (especially basketball)! I am an avid reader of a variety of books, from picture books to adult books. Some of my favorite authors include Kurt Vonnegut, Steve Sheinkin, Holly Black, Jason Reynolds, Lisa Graff, Rick Riordan and Jan Thomas.

My greatest joy is getting to know our local families and helping them find their next favorite book. I work with library members from birth through the teen years, but the majority of my focus is with elementary school kids. I plan all sorts of youth programming here at the library from educational STEAM activities to fun fandom events with Harry Potter and Mo Willems books. Currently, I run a few Zoom events including Family Storytime on Thursdays, a Monarch nominee book club, STEAM Team To Go and Jackbox Gaming. I also organize the Teen/Tween Book Bag quarterly events.

To view upcoming library events for all ages, including Family Storytime, visit our Events Calendar.

If you have any questions about WPLD’s youth collections and services, feel free to contact me at 630/393-1171 x110 or julie@warrenville.com.
